Grow Your Own Garden

Interested in learning how to grow your own vegetables in a sustainable manner? Join us for a workshop on how to grow your own garden organically. We'll talk about the basics of soil science, how to enrich your soil to produce healthy, high-yielding plants. The course will also cover the fundamentals of making and using compost, the principles of crop rotation and how to incorporate green manures to manage nutrients in the garden. Other topics will include how to tell the difference between cultivated plants and weeds, basic weed control strategies and cultural methods for dealing with pests. All are welcome, from first-timers to experienced gardeners who want to experiment with new techniques. Materials Fee: $5, payable to the instructor at the beginning of class. 3 Sessions

King's Bucksport Driving School

Taught by a certified Class A driving instructor, this ten class, comprehensive program effectively prepares beginning drivers to receive their driving permit. Program includes 30 hours of classroom instruction and 10 hours of behind the wheel driving instruction, as well as all class handouts, testing materials, Maine Motorist Handbook, and Course Completion Certificate. Provided that all driving hours are completed and permit test passed, permits are issued on last day of class! Most students receive their permits within 30 days. Permit Fee: $35 (payable to the Secretary of State). References available upon request.  Registration fee is payable to King's Bucksport Driving School.  Class is limited to 15 students.  Students must sign up at the Adult Education officce. 

*Please note that Friday class times are 1:30-4:30pm.

Prime for Life is the premier evidence-based program to inform teens and adults about low and high-risk choices with regard to alcohol and drug use - including marijuana, prescription medications, and vaping. This program has been around since 1980 and has been delivered to over two million people in all U.S. states, in the U.S. Army, U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Marine Corps, and in parts of Europe. Originally a five-day class, this version of Prime for Life has been pared down to the essentials in this fun and fast paced, 4.5-6 hour class. 2 Sessions
