Learn basic crochet stitches that are the building blocks for all crochet items while making a wearable unique item just for you.  You will be learning what each stitch is and how to make it while learning to read a pattern.  Don't worry if you never tried this before, this is the very beginning.  For this class, you will need one size H of I crochet hook and one skein worsted weight yarn.  2 Sessions.

Drawing, Beginning

If you've ever caught yourself doodling, you are indeed drawing.  Drawing is the oldest form of written communication and is easily a favorite leisure activity.  In this class you will explore your creative side as you learn how to set up a good compostition using drawing techniques such as shading, contrast, perspective, texture, etc.  We'll also be experimenting with different drawing materials so you can see which ones you like the best (or the least).  Drawing still lifes and landscapes are only a small part of this class.  All supplies will be provided.  All you need to bring isn your eagerness to learn.  Come prepared to enhance your creativity and stimulate your imagination through drawing.  This is a beginners class.  1 Session.

Felted Landscapes

Have you ever wanted to learn how t make a felted landscape? Students will learn how to create a beautiful landscape using an ancient craft process called felmaking. We'll learn alll about wet felting and dry needle felting. Imagine what you can create using wood, soap, water and a little agitation. Materials fee: $8 (payable to the instructor at the beginning of class.) 1 session

Hair Pin Barrette

Learn to use heavy gauge copper and brass wire to create a gorgeious hair poin barrette! You'll learn how to form the stiff wire, and to anneal it so it bends easier. You'll also learn to solder the pieces together to make a nice solid barrette that will last for years to come! Materials fee: $25 (payable to the instructor at the beginning of class.) 1 Session

Intro to Bezel

In this Intro to Bezel Settings workshop, we'll be creating a bezel setting for a non-calibrated cabochon. You'll start with a cabochon, metal sheet and metal strips, and learn how to use the stone to form the perfect bezel setting for that particular stone. This workshop will use pick soldering and teach a new soldering technique called chip soldering. You'll learn about flux, oxidation, pickle, and more. You'll learn how the metal behaves as it's heating to the correct temperature to accept the solder, how the flux behaves, and what the metal looks like just before the melting point. Materials fee: $50 (payable to the instructor at the beginning of class.) 1 Session

Japanese Shibori Silk Scarves

"Shibori" is the Japanese resist method of creating designs on silk scarves using PVC pipes.  This is a unique process of wrapping our scarves around the pipe and watch as your creativity with silk dyes takes over, spilling color onto the pipe in layer after layer.  You will also be given the opportunity to paint directly on your scarves.  The science of art and the creativity of the individual unite in this workshop to produce two finished scarves that can be worn with pride or given as figts.  All participants should wear old clothes and bring an old towel to class.  Limit to 8 students.  Materials fee: $10, payable to the instructor at the beginning of class.  1 Session.

Knitting, Beginning

This class is for the beginning knitter or for someone who needs a brush up.  You will be working on cast on, garter stitch, knit 2 pearl 2, rib stitch, and knit a stockinette stitch.  Most knitting is done using these stitches.  Come have some fun while learning this valuable art.  For this class you will need size 8 knitting needles and one skein worsted weight yarn.  2 Sessions.

Mom and Me Crochet
