Alcohol Ink

Alcohol Ink is an alcohol based pigment that is used to color non-porous surfaces such as glass, tile, metal and more.  By the end of the workshop you'll have at least 2 tiles for wall-hanging, some beautiful glassware, and we'll play with yupo paper as well (a synthetic water-color pater - 100% polypropelyne!)  Materials fee: $15 (payable to the instructor at the beginning of class).  1 Session.

Birch Bark Ornaments

This workshop will offer students the opportunity to create up to four holiday ornaments using birch bark provided by the instructor. You'll learn ways to cut & fold the birch bark to make your own holiday gift tape. Students are encouraged to bring in any dried flowers or other materials to embellish their creations. Materials fee: $3 (payable to the instructor at the beginning of class). 1 Session.

 

Crochet, Basics

Learn basic crochet stitches that are the building blocks for all crochet items while making a wearable unique item just for you. You will be learning what each stitch is and how to make it while learning to read a pattern. Don't worry if you have never tried this before, this is the very beginning. For this class, you will need 1 size H or I crochet hook and 1 skein worsted weight yarn. 2 Sessions.

 

Drawing, Beginning

If you've ever caught yourself doodling, you are indeed drawing. Drawing is the oldest form of written communication and is easily a favorite leisure activity. In this class you will explore your creative side as you learn how to set up a good composition using drawing techniques such as shading, contrast, perspective, texture, etc. We'll also be experimenting with different drawing materials so you can see which ones you like the best (or the least). Drawing still lifes and landscapes are only a small part of this class. All supplies will be provided. All you need to bring is your imagination through drawing. This is a beginners class. 2 Sessions.

 

Felted Landscapes

Students will learn how to create a beautiful landscape using an ancient craft process called feltmaking. We'll learn all about wet felting and dry needle felting. Imagine what you can create using wool, soap, water & a little agitation! Materials fee: $8 (payable to the instructor at the beginning of class). 1 Session.

 

Grannie Squares

Grannie Squares have unlimited use and application. Come for a one day class and learn the art of Grannie Squares. You will be looking at and reading patterns, learning to make squares, and discovering many design options for yoru creations. Pre-requisite; Crochet Basics or experience with crocheting. 1 Session.

 

Japanese Shibori Silk Scarves

"Shibori" is the Japanese resist method of creating designs on silk scarves using PVC pipes. This unique process of wrapping our scarves around the pipe and watch as our creativity with silk dyes takes over, spilling the color onto the pipe in layer after layer. You will also be given the opportunity to paint directly on your scarves. The science of art and creativity of the individual unite in this workshop to produce two finished scarves that can be worn with pride or given as gifts. All participants should wear old clothes and bring an old towel to class. Materials fee: $10 (payable to the instructor at the beginning of class). 1 Session.

 

Knitting, Beginning

This class is for the beginning knitter or for someone who needs a brush up. You will be working on cast on, garter stitch, knit 2 pearl 2, rib stitch, and knit a stockinette stitch. Most knitting is done using these stitches. Come have some fun while learning this valuable art. For this class you will need size 8 knitting needles and 1 skein worsted weight yarn. 2 Sessions.
