It Takes a Village - the Next Level of Foster Care

Free

with Laura Hagelin

Calendar Oct 24, 2019 at 4 pm

Are you a licensed foster parent with the Department of Health and Human Services? Have you been providing foster care for at least a year, or have 6+ months of paid experience with children who have developmental disabilities or struggle with their metal health? Do you know that you may qualify to come on board with a Therapeutic Foster care (FTC) agency? TFC agencies provide additional resources and training to foster parents and also offer a number of additional supports to children for whom you are caring. This class session will offer additional information on the difference between family foster care and specialized (or therapeutic) foster care, the nuts and bolts about how you qualify, the simple steps involved in the process of coming on board with an agency, scenarios for when this transition would and would not necessarily make sense and will answer any questions you may have. 1 Session. Preregistration is required.

Japanese Shibori Silk Scarves

$25

with Sandi Cirillo

Calendar Nov 2, 2019 at 9 am

"Shibori" is the Japanese resist method of creating designs on silk scarves using PVC pipes. This is a unique process of wrapping our scarves around the pipe and watch as our creativity with silk dyes takes over, spilling the color onto the pipe in layer after layer. You will also be given the opportunity to paint directly on your scarves. The science of art and the creativity of the individual unite in this workshop to produce two finished scarves that can be worn with pride or given as gifts. All participants should wear old clothes and bring an old towel to class. Materials fee: $12 payable to the instructor at the beginning of class. 1 Session.

Materials fee: $10 payable to the instructor at the beginning of class. 1 Session.
