A beginner's guide to Microsoft Windows 10 operating system. This course will go through the basics of navigating your windows 10 computer. Topics will include navigating the start menu, navigating the desktop, navigating and editing folders, basic Microsoft program functions, files, and windows, using a USB drive, logging out of a windows account, and proper method of shutting down the computer. 2 Sessions.

Microsoft Word

Microsoft Excel

This is an introductory course to explore Microsoft Excel. You will start by learning simple commands to create, edit, save and print our own worksheet. This will provide a basic spreadsheet knowledge. Then you will explore more involved functions and how to build more complex formulas. You will cover Excel's uses and functions as a simple database as well as how to import and export data. 6 Sessions.

CCMA (Certified Clinical Medical Assistant Training Program)

Do you want to prepare for an exciting, challenging and rewarding career in healthcare? We train students to assist physicians by performing functions related to the clinical responsibilities of a medical office. Instruction includes among other things preparing patients for examination and treatment, routine laboratory procedures, diagnostic testing, technical aspects of phlebotomy and the cardiac life cycle. Students will review important topics including phlebotomy, pharmacology, the proper use and administration of medications, taking and documenting vital signs, cardiology including proper lead placements, professional workplace behavior, ethics and the legal aspects of healthcare. Classroom lecture and hands-on labs are integrated with contextualized, concurrent English, Math, technology, and employability skills. Students will have an opportunity for job shadowing and/or externship. Pre-requisite: Healthcare Academy or approval of Director and receive a 244 on the Reading CASAS assesment. Minimum of 4 students required.  Dates and times to be announced.

Phlebotomy Technician

This course prepares students to collect blood specimens from clients for the purpose of laboratory analysis. Students will become familiar with all aspects related to blood collection and develop comprehensive skills to perform venipunctures completely and safely. Classroom and lab work includes terminology, Anatomy and Physiology, blood collection procedures, specimen hands-on practice, and training in skills and techniques to perform puncture methods. To be eligible for the clinical rotation, students must successfully complete the program, submit to a thorough background check, drug screening and meet other requirements. Students will have an opportunity for job shadowing and/or externship. Pre-requisite: Healthcare Academy or Director approval and receive a 244 on the Reading CASAS assessment. Minimum of 4 students required.
