Do you want to prepare for an exciting, challenging and rewarding career in healthcare?  We train students to assist physicians by performing functions related to the clinical responsibilities of a medical office.  Instruction includes among other things preparing patients for examination and treatment, routing laboratory procedures, diagnostic testing, techical aspects of phlebotomy and the cardiac life cycle.  Students will review important topics including phlebotomy, pharmacology, the proper use and administration of medications, taking and documenting vital signs, cardiology including proper lead placements, a professional workplace behavior, ethics and the legal aspects of healthcare.  We include 140 hours of classroom lecture and hands-on labs.  In addition, students will receive opportunities to brush up on workforce skills and job preparation, participate in WorkReady brushup, BLS, and Digital Literacy certifications.  This portion of the course is self-paced and hours of completion may vary.  40 Sessions.  Please call 469-2129 for information regarding prerequisites and schedule orientation.  Registration Fee: $2599  National Exam Fee: $160

Mac OSX

A beginner's guide to Mac OSX operating system. This course will go through the basics of navigating your Mac computer. Topics will include: navigating the desktop, the functionality of the dock, changing system settings, using spotlight, working with application and files, using internet browsers, using a USB drive, logging out, and proper method of shutting down the computer. Students wanting hands on practice should plan on bringing their Mac laptop. However, hands on practice is not required for this class. 1 Session.

 

Medical Billing and Coding

This course offers the skills needed to solve insurance billing problems, how to manually file claims (using the CPT and ICD-10 manual), complete common insurance forms, trace delinquent claims, appeal denied claims and use generic forms to streamline billing procedures. The course covers the following areas: CPT (Introduction, Guidelines, Evaluation and Management), ICD-10 (Introduction and Guidelines) and basic claims processes for medical insurance and third party reimbursements. Students will learn how to find the service and codes using manuals, (CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS). 22 Sessions.
