This class is provided free in partnership between RSU 25 Adult and Community Education and the Maine Digital Inclusion Initiative developed by the National Digital Equity Center that deploys teams of AmeriCorps volunteers throughout the state of Maine to provide free computer skills training to the public in community centers, libraries, and adult education facilities. The goal is to target digital literacy barriers in our communities to promote technology's impact on economic development, workforce education, and older Mainers' aging in place needs.

Learn to use this cloud-based program to create and share documents, set up a Gmail account, and more. Computers will be available. You don't need to bring a laptop or purchase software to attend.

Grow Your Own Garden

Interested in learning how to grow your own vegetables in a sustainable manner? Join us for a workshop on how to grow your own garden organically. We'll talk about the basics of soil science, how to enrich your soil to produce healthy, high-yielding plants. The course will also cover the fundamentals of making and using compost, the principles of crop rotation and how to incorporate green manures to manage nutrients in the garden. Other topics will include how to tell the difference between cultivated plants and weeds, basic weed control strategies and cultural methods for dealing with pests. All are welcome, from first-timers to experienced gardeners who want to experiment with new techniques. Materials Fee: $5, payable to the instructor at the beginning of class. 3 Sessions

Hair Pin Barrette

Learn to use heavy gauge copper and brass wire to create a gorgeious hair poin barrette! You'll learn how to form the stiff wire, and to anneal it so it bends easier. You'll also learn to solder the pieces together to make a nice solid barrette that will last for years to come! Materials fee: $25 (payable to the instructor at the beginning of class.) 1 Session

Healthcare Academy
